Obolon district – is an urban district of the Ukrainian capital Kiev. Located in the north part of the city on the right bank of the Dnieper river. Was established on the 3rd of March 1975 as an administrative-territorial unit and named after the capital of Belarussia – Minskiy. At that days the district included Obolon, Priorka, Kurenyovka, Minsk and Vyishgorodskiy areas. According to the decision of the Kiev city council from 2001 year, the district was renamed Obolon, as this name better matches with the area.
